Advent- December 4
Listen:
Come, Thou Long-Expected Jesus
When God created Adam and Eve, He created them for a relationship. They were made perfect and had everything they needed. God created Adam first to be a recipient of His love and then created Eve so that he could love her the same.
When Adam and Eve believed the serpent's lie and ate from the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil, they believed they could be like God apart from God. They were already made in His image! They no longer saw God as their friend and Father when they believed the lie.
They felt shame and then hid from God. Even when God came searching for them, instead of receiving His forgiveness and His offer for them to repent, they shifted the blame instead. From that point on, sin became like a disease that changed the way humankind viewed God. Sin became what separated us from the love God wanted us to experience. Sin was the problem that kept us in bondage and a prisoner to death.
