Advent- December 3
Listen: Angels from the Realms of Glory
Take time to reflect on creation and the wonder of it with your children. Intentionally thank God for the wonder of the world and all of His promises.
Years ago, an older woman told me to make much of Jesus as I was parenting; to make much of Him by pointing out How creative and thoughtful He was in His creation. As we were out in nature, I would point out little things and draw my children’s attention to the tiniest details, making them aware of God’s creativity and thoughtfulness. This practice was a way we cultivate thankful hearts and turned our attention away from any sense of lack.
As adults, we don’t realize how much we complain until we intentionally begin to be thankful. Often, we find ourselves complaining about how we feel. We focus on what the doctor tells us or what our bodies tell us which then becomes our “joy meter.” Instead of focusing on our situations, why not consciously turn our complaining into thankfulness? If your body hurts, talk to your body. That may sound strange, but it works! Tell your body you are grateful for it, and speak life into it. “Death and life are in the power of the tongue, And those who love it will eat its fruit.” Proverbs 18:21
If you speak death, death will be the fruit. Speak life, and life will be produced.
