Advent- December 1
Listen: Alpha and Omega
Alpha and Omega are the Greek letters for our A and Z. The Hebrew letters are Aleph and Tav. Jesus was there at the beginning of creation and will always be.
“In the beginning, O Lord, You laid the foundations of the earth, and the heavens are the work of Your hands.” Hebrews 1:10
The ancient book of Genesis tells us the story of God’s creative artistry. God created the canvas of space and filled it with life; a Master Artist painted a universe using only the medium of words.
The words God used to speak the world into existence were filled with such creative, living power that scientists are still discovering new things to this very day. For instance, on February 22, 2017, the Trappist-1 planets were found by NASA’s Spritzer Space telescope. Seven new planets were found that were orbiting a large star similar to our sun; three of those planets were thought to be equal to our Earth and habitable because of the ocean waters they contain.
The fact that God’s words are still creating should not astound us if we know the power behind God’s command at the beginning of time, “Let there be light.” That command was spoken only once, and an avalanche of light poured forth from those words. One day, light will return to Him, but not until it has met all of His intended will for it. The boundary for light is so intricate by design that its most minor component is something as profound as a sound wave and as large as the forming of galaxies yet undiscovered.
“By faith, we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God so that the things which are seen were not made of things which are visible.” Hebrews 11:3
Spend time praying together. Take time to thank God for His provision.
