Train your Soul - Emotions Part II
Have you ever looked at someone’s face to gauge what they are thinking/ feeling? We base our comfort with the relationships we have on body language and facial expression.
What they are feeling is written on their face and it affects our emotions, does it not?
Scripture tells us to seek the face of God. What that means to me, is that when I “seek” God’s face, I seek His emotions. When I know how God feels about something, it changes how I feel about it, or at least changes my emotional trajectory.
“How do you feel about this, Father?”
“Do you love me, Father?”
“ Are you happy, God?”
“ How do you feel about the person who did ______.”
When we can train our emotions to lead through the Spirit, we bring them under the submission of Christ.
How many times have we been led by the emotions stirred by circumstances? “God, I believe you are healer BUT It doesn’t work for me!” etc.
What you confess IS your emotional reality! You can “confess” Jesus as healer, it’s great that you know that truth, however, when you “confess” that it’s not working for you, you just became double minded. (For one thing, Gods Word never returns void, it never fails, it always accomplishes what God intended; so when our reality doesn’t line up, it’s not that God changed His mind, or is angry with you, it’s that you shackled yourself to emotional chains of lack. )
When you KNOW how God feels about something, for example, “ God laughs at the wicked knowing their day is coming.” Ps 37:13. When you are seeing the wicked gain ground, you can confidently say “ Emotions, God is not worried about the wicked, He laughs at them, so will I! I WILL rejoice! I WILL not fear!”
Confess with authority and your emotions will learn to do what WE want them to do rather than be manipulated by circumstances, people or the devil.
We are temples of the living God. God is not an emotional train wreck. He is peace, joy, self-control and full of hope. Our emotions must be brought under the authority of Christ (that’s our responsibility), but God gave us the ability and power to do so! Everything God IS and HAS is ours too!
When you master your emotions, the Spirit is free to flow freely and we will be led by peace , joy, etc. rather than our circumstances.
