Greet, Amen
Observation:
What is Paul conveying in his closing remarks?
What: What did the Father speak to you through this study?
“Greet every saint in Christ Jesus. The brethren who are with me greet you. All the saints greet you, but especially those who are of Caesar's household. The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all. Amen.” Philippians 4:21-23
Paul ends his letter as he began it- with a greeting and a prayer.
Whenever there is an “Amen” at the end of a letter, it means “so it is, so be it, may it be fulfilled.”
It was a custom with the early church that when a letter was read or discoursed and a prayer had been offered, the others responded, “Amen”, making what was said and heard their own.
My prayer for you is that you have received a greater understanding of the substance of joy. Years ago, I read a study on this letter in which the author used Joy and acrostic: J—Jesus, O—others, Y—you. This helps summarize this letter. Chapter one is about your life in Christ. Chapter two is about your example through Christ. Chapter three is about your goal in life. Chapter four is about your source of strength.
Let all you do come from a revelation that you are God’s beloved. Live from that place of acceptance until your heart and mind line up with that truth and your example becomes one that others can testify to as well as emulate. When people see in Christ in you, they will want Christ in themselves.
Amen.
